Growing up in Mexico City, Guadalupe Lanning Robinson was surrounded by a rich diversity of architecture, a vibrant tapestry woven from ancient Aztec structures, Spanish colonial buildings, and modern designs. These continue to inspire her work as a potter, quilter and sculptor. Guadalupe’s creative process involves a delicate balance between control and release. She received a bachelor degree in interior design from Colegio Pedagógico Anglo Español in Mexico City. She has maintained an active studio in Huntsville, Alabama since 1987. With a career spanning decades, she has exhibited nationally, taught workshops, has been a recipient of two Alabama State Council on the Arts Fellowships, and has contributed significantly to the ceramic arts community. Her work is in private and institutional collections and stands as a testament to the power of cultural hybridity and the enduring language of clay. Robinson continues to explore the dialogue between earth, heritage and craft, using her art to connect time, culture and place. |
