ConFab 2016 is a one-day event that features a direct conversation between internationally known sculptor John Henry and ConFab attendees on September 24th in Chattanooga. ConFab 2016 will begin at Chattanooga State Community College with a presentation about John's art and career followed by an open discussion between John and the audience. The dialogue, which ensues, will be initiated by the interests of the audience. The informal nature of this discussion will allow the conversation to grow organically, facilitating a unique opportunity for sculptors and art lovers to direct the course of the conversation and personalize learning. The presentation and discussion are blocked for a two hour period allowing plenty of time for all participants to partake in the conversation. A buffet sandwich bar and pop-up exhibition will follow. During this time, ConFab attendees will have the opportunity to exhibit 12"x12"x12" sculptures, and view and discuss the exhibition with John and the other attendees. This is a rare opportunity for artists to share their work and gain feedback from an artist of John's stature. After the pop-up exhibition, the ConFab will move to Sculpture Fields at Montague Park for a guided tour of both the Sculpture Park and John Henry’s studio complex. We will end the day with a catered dinner, where MSA will present John with the 2nd annual MSA Master's Award for lifetime achievements. The dinner is an opportunity to celebrate John's achievements and his support of sculpture and its importance to Chattanooga and beyond.
